A foundation in honor of our brother, Shawn Colin

The moments that echo long after we’re gone.

Our oldest brother, Shawn, was diagnosed with ALS in 2025. Echoes of Me is how we keep fighting beside him, our family and a whole community, and for every family who has been told there is nothing left to do.

Shawn Colin surrounded by his smiling siblings

Shawn is our oldest brother. In 2025 he was diagnosed with ALS and given about two years. He has faced it the way he has faced everything, with deep faith, stubborn grit, and a sense of humor that refuses to quit. What has formed around him has never been just family. Brothers and sisters, cousins, aunts and uncles, friends, colleagues, and people who crossed his path only once have all stepped in behind him. That is the kind of impact he has had on people.

God better bring a lunch, because this ain’t going to be easy and I don’t give up easy.

He has his own name for the disease. “ALS means always losing something. It takes little by little, and it does not give.” And still he says, “God’s got me. Always has.”

The team name comes from a lesson his grandfather taught him. God never intended angels to have wings and halos; he uses people, every day, as his angels. The way Shawn says it: “If you see someone without a smile, give them yours.”

I am going to continue to fight, not just for myself, but for my children. That will be my legacy.

Echoes of Me isn’t just an organization. It’s a promise.

A promise that ALS will not get to define the end of Shawn’s story, or anyone else’s. The mission is simple: raise awareness, support the families walking this road, and preserve the voice, the presence, and the legacy of the people this disease tries to silence.

Purpose can be louder than prognosis.

If you want to follow Shawn’s journey and what we are building with Echoes of Me, send a quick note and we will add you to the list. We will only reach out when there is something real to share.
